Vine is a new iPhone app that, in the month since it launched, has caused quite a stir in the media and tech industries.
For those of you who don’t know, the standalone app with strong connections to Twitter, allows you to record and play a six-second video clip on loop. Since the video must be between three and six seconds long, it isn’t designed for feature length films or sales pitches- it’s a tool designed to capture ‘moments’.
Vine is not the first video sharing app to be released, however it’s definitely the first to cause such a stir. Although there are still some teething problems, the app’s popularity so far shows it’s definitely something to keep an eye on. Its integration with Twitter also shows how popular a PR machine the social network is becoming- plus, it’s the perfect platform to share short videos on.
Vine has been described by some as ‘Instagram with video’- that’s not a bad thing to be compared to when you consider Instagram’s 100 million monthly users.
Despite teething problems and wishing you could save a draft or export the video to your iPhone, we’re loving the app and are looking forward to finding different ways of using it.
