Gateshead College position themselves as one of the best vocational colleges in the country that gives people an employment edge and the best chance of success in the job market. It offers a learning experience to develop soft skills needed to complement the hard skills from a course to make students highly employable, including things like work experience opportunities, access to enterprise activities and careers or business start-up advice.
This service is branded as JobLab and the College required an accessible resource for students considering their next steps that appeals, engages and interacts with them - prompting them to take action but also supporting them with tools like portfolios, social media and signposting opportunities.
After a competitive tender process we were tasked to deliver a digital space to work in tandem with the physical JobLab spaces on campus. After conducting a number of requirements gathering workshops with student groups we developed a fully content managed and responsive site giving students access to personalised content depending on the route they wished to take.
Our brief was to develop a website that would really engage with our students whilst providing them with a whole host of information on their next steps on the career ladder. The Works developed a site which met that brief and gives us a great amount of flexibility within the CMS to allow us to continuously grow the site whilst keeping it looking fresh.
