For Christmas 2015, Sunderland BID changed the city of Sunderland into Frost Village. The Christmas village had a whole host of activities including a real ice rink, Christmas market and funfair and BID wanted to showcase their festive characters ‘The Frostlings’ across Wearside.
We knew that this was going to be a fun, Christmas campaign aimed at all ages and focused on a theme that would be recognised across all the promotional materials with hand illustrated characters.
Firstly, we illustrated Christmas characters who became the Frostlings, which were a main part of the advertising campaign and by introducing these characters, we made it a fun and recognisable campaign.
We planned an advertising campaign aimed at families as well as the wider audience of Sunderland, and then co-ordinated this with a range of outdoor and large format advertising around the site and in popular city locations including the Bridges.
The Works really grasped the sentiment of the Frost Village campaign right from the beginning and understood what the projects aims and objectives were. Throughout the campaign Racheal, my account manager, was enthusiastic and cared as much as I did about getting the look and feel of it spot on. They helped me in every way bring the concept of the Frostlings to life!
The Christmas campaign for Sunderland BID was the biggest campaign I have worked on so far. It was a fun and exciting campaign to be involved with and it created a great buzz in the City of Sunderland.
